'...very disappointing.'
(let's play a game!!)
I fell asleep in the lying-down-bit you do at the end of a yoga class, and when I woke up there was a GINORMOUS sign in my brain saying “The Disappointment Challenge”.
Do you want to play, too? Subscribe here and i’ll keep you in the loop for my Summer of Disappointment 😆
Back in 2019 when I did my 100 No-Thank-Yous challenge, the goal of that was to get me over my crippling fear of rejection. That challenge completely changed my life. Like…catapulted it into another stratosphere.
More recently I’ve been dealing with an old pal “caring what other people think”. This has served me very well. I can bend myself into whatever shape you need me to be. I can hit ANY deadline if i’m motivated. I will succeed because I am insane, an all that.
Howeverrrr,
Overly-caring what people think has now stopped working for me.
I can’t be conscientious and appointing (?) when there are lots of eyeballs watching. 2025 taught me that I REALLY really cannot control what people think, and that I probably will be misunderstood. I also cannot reply to every single DM and email that I get. And I need to get ok with this disappointing-everyone thing.
Bla bla bla I need to rush home cos the Tesco shopping is coming but long story short I AM EMBRACING MY DISAPPOINTING ERA.
I think i’m gonna be really good at this 🤣
Let me know if you’re sick of people pleasing and would like to join in. I’ll write about this experiment, obvs.
Yours disappointingly,
Katie xx

I went to write "I love this Katie" but mistyped "I live this Katie". Which is ironic because both statements are wholly accurate! I shall be following with keen interest x
I have been feeling this! Sometimes there’s even a nice joy in being a disappointment, and there’s power in resisting the urge to apologise for having other priorities 🤷🏻♀️
